The 2010 Tennis Central Junior ITF has got underway yesterday in very sunny conditions.

The first day of play was dominated by the boys' singles seeds, with all 16 of them winning their way through to the second round in straight sets. 

The only exceptions to this was the eighth seed Takuma Ohashi (NZL) who defeated Tomoya Suzuki from Japan 6-7 (1), 7-6 (1), 6-0 and second seed Jamie Eccleton (NZL) who beat his Australian opponent, Jake Wynan 2-6 6-2 6-3.

From a local point of view, while the Tennis Central players have found the competition pretty tough going, Thomas McCabe (Hutt Valley) had a very convincing win over Phada Boontipjumpa from Thailand 6-1 6-0. Thomas will now play 16th seed Jay Andrijic (AUS).

In the girls, all seeded players will take the court for their first singles game today with all second round singles and doubles matches scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
